The Senior Associate Dean for Research/Endowed Chair will collaborate with Deans and Program Directors in long-range academic planning, program review, development and implementation of School policies related to, but not restricted to research.  Reporting to the Dean of the School, he/she serves as the Director, Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program and the Center for Research Development and Scholarship. (CRDS)  The Senior Associate Dean will foster a culture of research and scholarly publication within nursing by creating a research agenda that reflects the interests of the faculty and is responsive to the stated areas of interest of funding agencies.   He/she will maintain an active externally funded research program as a Principal Investigator.   It will be important to encourage and mentor faculty to perform research and in the peer-reviewed publication process.  The Senior Associate Dean for Research will act as a liaison for VUSN in research and activities that are internal and external to Vanderbilt University.

Qualifications include: an earned PhD in Nursing or DSN (or other terminal degree in health sciences);  Full Professor with tenure; eligible for an RN license in TN; a portfolio of strong achievement in research, scholarship and teaching;  deep appreciation and embodiment of the values-based framework of Vanderbilt’s nursing program; strong administrative and management capabilities; skilled leader who will identify goals in research and scholarship with the ability to support and encourage faculty member development in those areas; a commitment to the community and the ability to foster relationships with other facilities and professional associations.

This newly created position includes responsibility for administration of the Departments of Advanced Nursing Practice and Professional Nursing Practice. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating oncology research studies and data submission for NCI sponsored cooperative group, pharmaceutical, and investigator initiated clinical trials. The Research Coordinator works closely with medical staff to determine patient eligibility, enroll patients on studies, report adverse events, procure and ship biological samples, as well as to ensure that complete and accurate data are collected. The Coordinator assists the Director(s) with planning to assure continued growth and success of the clinical trials research program. Coordinator provides reports to the Cancer Committee and assures that the research program meets ACOS guidelines.
Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or have demonstrated two years of acute care nursing experience. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Minimum Experience: Three to five years of experience in oncology. Must have a proficient use of Microsoft office suite. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Certification/Licensure: Current license as an RN in the state of Texas.  Current CPR certification.
